artex ceiling

Artex® is a texturing compound that is a very common sight on ceiling in the UK. Rather than a smooth plaster finish Artex can have patterns such as swirls applied into the compound - although stippling is probably the most common finish (as shown in the above photograph).

As with plaster, Artex needs to be coated to protect it from the moist and humid conditions found in bathrooms and, again, a specialist bathroom paint should be used or you could encounter mould spots forming or even large patches if it is left unchecked.
